The British have apparently stopped several plots, so how many has the US stopped? None that I can recall that were actual threats. Several that were manufactured to look like the US had actually stopped something.

I could think of something more effective to ban from airplanes, and the result would be less restrictions on what you can bring on planes, and fewer terrorism events.

Death isn't the worst thing that can happen to a person. I actually agree with this sociopath for once. Profiling isn't the worst thing in the world. But neither is death. Far worst is trading what makes this country worth living in for something as ephemeral as safety.

How many of you remember all the people making jokes about this plot when it first came to light?

Numerous posters on here denied or attempted to play down the possibility that this type of attack would really work. So watch the video of one of these home made bombs going off and see how real the threat was.

I saw the video, and I don't see what the big deal is. Making an explosion that size with that amount of material is not a special property of liquid explosives, and without the details of what exactly a lab full of experts did to make that work, it's hard to say just how probable it was that a bunch of terrorists could have pulled it off.

the bush administration has proven beyond doubt that they are not worthy of the trust that they squandered in the years they've been in control of the government.

everything that comes out of the current adminstration has come via some dark putrid sewer pipe populated by the lowest neocon scum that lurk behind the facade of psuedo patriotism.

everything that comes out of the current administration has the same gagging smell that permeates the white house that speaks to lies, deception, secrecy and the self-serving propaganda that carl rove disseminates ad nauseum.

ergo, anything chertoff has to say is primarily meant to forward the neocon agenda. if by chance there is some truth to what he says you can rest assured it has been put through the neocon spin machine to add those same agenda-driven finishing touches that every statement from them has to offer.

their methods are consistent, systematic and unrelenting. and worst of all, their methods actually work on a part of our population. go figure.
