its 3 in the morning and i can't get these physics problems 🙁 please help.

the period of an oscillation particle is 8s, and its amplitude is 12 cm. At t=0, it is at its equalibrium position. Find the distance traveld during the interval (a) t = 0 to t = 2s (b) t =2s to t = 4s.

Don't know if this is too late but oh well...

Equation of a harmonic oscillator is x(t) = Acos(wt) where A is the amplitude and w is the frequency of oscillation.

w = (2*pi)/period = 2*pi/8

Plug A and w into equation, plug in initial time and final time, and take the difference between the distances. That is the displacement. Hope this helps.

thanks own0rz, you are a life saver. You came to my aid just in time....i am going to class now, i can finish the problem on the way there 🙂 thanks!!!

*bows* You guys rocket scientists or something? Sheesh. I just find it incredible that human beings can actually SOLVE these equations.

I know math is very "logical" but to me, these numbers and letters are just so imaginary...if that's the right word. PI/8? Yep, I ate the pie. 😀 me\<------not smart enough to be here...leaving now.
