OT - but related, sorry

Will Plextors work in a Mac? (Please no flames - I don't know squat about Macs) but my friend is looking to get a burner and asked me for "good ones", so of course I say Plextor-but don't know if they work in Macs...

just go to the software site and check out the supported burners. More than likely your friend is using Adaptec's Toast if he is on a Mac. Newer Macs support IDE, older ones only have SCSI. Keep that in mind.

I don't believe Plextors will work with a Macintosh. Probably just a matter of drivers.

Yamahas do though and they're excellent, right up there with Plextor.

Also on the IDE thing - read the manual really carefully. Friend of mine has a Powercomputing Mac clone (they licensed clones for awhile) and it has the IDE/SCSI mix like some Macs do. Only it's IDE is (1) device only. Don't know if that was common for Apple Macs or not, but check it out.

does staples Pricematch online stores like buy.com? if they do then you could price match the $271.99 drive at Staples with the Buy.com one and then use a coupon at staples. Would this work?
