PlexWriter 16/10/40A Problem/Question

I've got a Plextor PlexWriter 16/10/40A, and while it can read cds flawlessly, none of my CD writing applications can detect it as a CD-R or CD-RW. I've tried using CDRWin and Nero, both of which should work with my drive.
One of the problems which I came across which I can't seem to fix is that in System>Devices>Plextor>Settings, I try to check the "DMA" box, however when I save the changes and reboot, the box appears unchecked. I don't know if this is causing my burning software to not recognize it.
I've also already updated my Firmware to version 1.01.
One last problem which I don't know how to fix is that in the manual, it says something about my BIOS having to be set with "DMA Mode 2" or "PIO Mode 4", both of which I have no clue where to find. I'm currently running on an ASUS P4T with Windows ME. Here is my system configuration if you need any additional info:

Are you using PlexTools or Plextor Manager or whatever it is called, along with the Intel ATA Storage drivers? If you are, either remove Plextor Manager, or upgrade to the latest version of the Intel ATA drivers, version 6.10.011.

No, I've only tried using CDRWin and Nero. I, sadly, can't find the CD that came with the Plextor Tools.

Update:

I tried the new IBM ATA Storage Drivers, and still no detection from either program.

Here's some more info which may be the problem...
Currently, here is my Master/Slave Setup... could someone tell me if this is correct or if it should work okay?:

Primary Channel:
Master: IBM Hard Drive
Slave: None
Secondary Channel:
Master: PlexWriter CD-R
Slave: Toshiba DVD

I can get you a copy of the software as I too have that burner and if you do have a Plextor 16X10X40 I could burn a copy and send it to you or I might be able to zip it and ICQ it.
