Plextor Problems

I am having a problem burning CDs with my 40x12x40a plextor. I cannot set it higher than 24x. I am running an Athlon XP 2200+ with 1GB of RAM and a MSI KT3-Ultra-ARU motherboard. I have tried DVD (16x LiteOn) to burner, HD (2 120GB SE WD) to burner, etc. to no avail. I have not been able to find any other users with this problem on this setup. I read another post about changing to DMA, but this was already set. I have the newest drivers for the motherboard, and am out of ideas. Any suggestions?

Also, I have the CD-RW on the primary channel and the DVD on the secondary, with the HDs striped on the integrated controller. I am using PNY 40x media and have tried both Nero and Easy CD.

I have this Plextor and there is new Firmware for it BUT It does not burn Music Media faster the 24X...also others mentioned here that if Burn Proof is enable it will only go as high as the Media is approved though I never had this problem with Plextor)

OK, I heard that about music CDs before, but I wasn't sure. However, I am having the problem mostly with data CDs. Any other suggestions? Thanks for the help.

1) get new CDR's
2) use the latest Firmware
3) make sure DMA is enabled
4) New IDE Drivers
5) Try an ATA 66/100 or different cable

Then if that doesn't work...Write or Call Plextor unless someone comes up with something else 😉

yea...tried basically everything that has been mentioned. I guess I am going to have to contact Plextor. Thanks for the help.
