did you see the policy @ Onvia.com?

They only do the credit back if the amount is greater than $10.

Just email them, they'll credit you $8.11. TThey did this for me twice, after I saw that $10 minimum.

You might just want to wait and give it 30 days -- then make your request. I'm guessing this may be lower in the next few weeks.

Well, we can't deny good service right? Although their policy claims it's minimum of $10, I think it's great that company like Onvia will go past its policy to satisfy a customer. I've already bought a CDRW, a Hard Drive, and a bunch of accessories from them already. Great service!

Onvia DOES rule. I've ordered thousands of dollars of stuff from them. The best deal was the 19" KDS monitors for $275 with free shipping. Their CSR people are quick to answer the phone and fix any order change or problem too.

Just received my cdrw. It is very nice. I had a problem in win2k though. When i installed the plextor software, i got a BSOD after I rebooted. I had to uninstall the plextor software to get it running again. Any1 have a solution for this? Also, I just got CDRWIN 3.8b, which came out a few days ago, and it supports this drive. Burned an 79minute cdr in 7 minutes. I love it. Does the new cdrwin support overburn? How can i tell if its in effect?

not sure about the win2k problem, but I've noticed some funny stuff with the software. I have Adaptec EZCD Creator 4.02 Deluxe that I've upgraded from my old cdrw drive software. But the software doesnt recognize this drive as a cdrw. I thought that was weird and there were no new updates for the software although Plextor comes with the Standard version and says the software supports it. Well, I uninstalled 4.02 Deluxe and installed the standard and it worked! Version was 4.02s. I guess it was a special version or something.

I believe for overburning, it depends more on the disc than your drive. I've burned 658 megs on a 74min disc with this drive so I'm pretty sure it supports overburning.

To test the BURN Proof feature, I'd suggest running a couple of memory hungry programs such as ICQ, MS Word, Netscape, and and probably a game that eats up cpu too like Q3 or any one of those 3d games nowadays.

<< To test the BURN Proof feature, >>

I've played q3 while burning at 8X on my Plextor 8x2x20 without problems. The time I had problems was when editing a 100+MB file in Photoshop. When opening the file, caused buffer underrun. For testing BurnProof, try adding something disk-intensive to the mix.

you might also want to try burn-proof on a cdrw, so it wont waste a cd if it fails.

reply to Bungwhore:
I've received my drive and I have some problems also. When I use CDRWIN 3.8B it gives me an error that says something like "buffer alignment" or something. I try burning with CloneCD, but I get nothing but coasters. I could burn audio and data files with EZCD but I can't make copies of CDs. Is my drive defective?

I've tried using cdrwin 3.8b to burn a bin/cue file using MAX speed and it just froze the program. However, I lowered the max speed to 8x and it has worked perfectly ever since. Might be the cd (claims to only support up to 4x) or it might be the software (doesnt even list 10x). My word of advice is to check what speeds your cdr are certified up to and chk if the software supports the 12x burn speed. Hope this helps.

well, I did hear about the drive having problems on win2k or winme. You might want to check out where they discuss about this drive to solve your problems. As for power supply, I have 300W. Not sure if that's going to make any difference either.

I am running the drive under W98(non SE) not a single problem...I will tell from my experience with WinOnCD 3.7PE if you do not upgrade to version 3.70.548 german(german help files and manual...all menus and wizard are still in english) then the SOFTWARE will not burn at 12x...version 3.70.527 max burn speed appears to be 8x...also you will need the new drivers off Cequadrat website. If you use this program you will need to go to WinOnCD folder..there will be a file that says burnproof-on.reg and burnproof-off.reg....in order to turn on burnproff double click the "-on.reg" file. In the software there is no place to turn on/off burnproof.

Adaptec that ships with US version has burnproof always on...

I have Imation 12x 80 min cdr, no problem...I used Imation 8x cdr off 100 spindle at 8x and 12x( the 12x burned ones seem ok)...this is my experience to date

This drive is great. I'm using it under Win2000 (the only way to go).

The Adaptec EZ-CD Creater version I had before (4.02) did not support this drive, but I uninstalled it and used the version of EZ-CD that came with the drive (4.02s).

Also my copy of CDRwin 3.7f did not support the drive, but the new version supports ALL plextor CDRs.

I tell ya, 12X burning is awesome (7mins), and the 10x CDRW mode totally crushes all other drives. I just wish I got the 10% PointClick discount, but Onvia was yanked off the list at the time, so I paid about $230 shipped. If you shop around for other CDR drives, you'll see just how good this deal is for the very best quality drive out there.

I want to give Krunk another thanks! I just jumped on this deal and I'm estactic that I got this drive. I was in the market for one too and figured I would have to settle for an 8x but then you came along and made my day. Thanks man!
I also would like to say that more companies should take after onvia. They have great prices and always honor their deals. Heck they even went out of their way to full fill all those $10 vtech phone orders back in april. Great company and great service!
BTW, has anyone had any problems using pointclick? Just wondering.

I couldn't get point click to work, so I emailed their customer service. The took care of it, and now I have a check pending for $27.04.
