**Plextor owners--POLL (kind of)**

Not really a poll but kind of a poll... (hence, no poll to take but please post)

I just got my 40X Plextor (yeah, I know it's not really worth it to go from a 16X Plextor to the 40X but I was going through withdraw of not buying a piece for Mhaikunt).

Anyway, I noticed that my 40X Plextor does not have the little cooling fan on the back of the drive as my 16X did. I'm sure it doesn't do much, but I'm just wondering why Plextor had a fan on the 16X and decided to do away with it.

So, my question for you guys is this: What Plextor CD-RW do you have and does it have a fan on the back of the drive?

the first version of the x24 plextor also had the fan but later models were produced which lacked the fan. plextor official word on this was that the fan was found to not be really necessary but to me it boiled down to cost & the highly competetive cdrw market.

Yeah, I had a hunch it was strictly an economic issue. I wonder how loud that fan was... I guess I'll find out whenever I burn something on my new burner.

<< I wonder how loud that fan was >>

I have the x24cdrw with the fan & I didn't notice any noise from it!
the other half tells me I'm deaf so believe what you want! 😀

I've got a 16/10/40A Plex. It has a fan in the back but it doesn't even spin. Then again after about 1 month the drive randomly started making weird noises and crap. 🙁

I'm getting a LiteOn for my next CD-RW.. they all seem to be the same now anyway.
