Hi all. Right now is a really exciting time for me. Main reason is because i'm a first time oc'er and i got my 1Ghz tbird up to 1208Mhz(not too bad). I'm looking into buying a new CD burner, and a new set of speakers. The choice of cd burners are the plextor eide 12/10/32, and the tdk velocd 12/10/32. Does anyone have any positive info because im stuck on which one to get. The speakers im looking into are the midiland 8200s,and the klipsch promedias 4.1...Can anyone sugguest which set? Thanks in advance!!!!!!!

you cant lose with either the plex or the tdk, go with whats cheaper. for your speakers, its not on your list but definetely better/on par with the ones you mention are the Boston Acoustics BA4800. You can get it for $150 shipped at Outpost.com. Very nice, i say the best ever within reasonable price range.

I personally think the TDK comes with a better software package... but it all depends on which you like to use.

Good point, it comes with Nero instead of bloatware Adaptec Toast or whatever you call it. A fully licensed legal version of Nero with a kick a$$ CD-RW, does it get any better than that?

Well, IMO (and i'm being brutally honest) software coming with the burner isn't a big deal for me because all those programs are readily available from the 'Net, if you know what I mean.

Therefore, it really becomes an issue of which burner is "better" performancewise and support/qualitywise. Normally I would go for the Plex hands down unless the TDK is vastly superior pricewise. However, I understand that the TDK guts are Plex-made so that may make this a moot point.

Additionally, the extra 50 cdrs is nice and is a 24 dollar value before coupons. So, this does make it a more attractive deal for the TDK.

I've also heard that the Plex 12/10/32 has had problems working well with CloneCd which is a big deal for me if I was looking for a burner. I'm not that sure with TDK if it has CloneCd problems.

So, having all this - buy the cheaper one. You probably can't go wrong either way.

Since the TDK runs for about $180 after $50 rebate and the Plextor is going for $209.99 at Onvia.com I would pay the extra $29.00 and get the Plextor.
