Where is it mentioned in Staples pricematch policy that a competitor's charges for "Next day
air" will be used? Here's how policy reads:
Staples Pricematch Policy
<<
When comparing catalog or Internet competitors prices, next day shipping and handling charges will be included in the price match analysis. >>
For my order, Staples used a competitor's advertised $3.50 shipping charge on the website for pricematch purposes. "Next day shipping" in the quote
possibly could be interpreted to mean "next day air delivery", except the example used in the table for displaying a competitor's shipping charge shows a $6.95: Is there anywhere actually offered "
next day air delivery" service for $6.95? If not, then I'd think the term "Next day shipping" more likely means "product shipped out Staples' warehouse within one working day" (also implying competitors' items must be "in stock" items to match Staples one-day-out-the-door shipping service). Then, again, perhaps my case was an oversight on part of a Staples' CSR. Then, again, looking at my order status screen the scheduled delivery date for the item is Oct 25 (a far cry from "next day," Oct 19). I seem to recall the CSR commented that the item was a special order for Staples (and thus couldn't be delivered "next day."

So, perhaps, that could be the reason a competitor's $3.50 UPS ground charge was satisfactory (instead of their overnight, next day air delivery fees) for determining a pricematch/comparison basis.
