This drive only have 2MB buffer. But with the burn proof, this shouldn't be a problem.

I HATE STAPLES!!!

3 CSR's and still no go.

First one couldn't pull up the newegg's website.
Second one couldn't verify it because she didn't know what what a CDRW was.
Third one claimed that their Manufacturer# is different from newegg's. Which is pretty ridiculous since Plextor only makes one 16x/10x/40x CDRW.

Will get back to you if I succeed.

You people must not care much for burning copyrighted material...ya'll are just concerned if an OEM comes w/the screws and audio cable. So, I guess I'll ask again...would anyone know if it's fact or fiction that Plextor downgraded their firmware so the drive won't burn copyrighted material?

Here's a link for a seemingly comprehensive test done on the Plextor 16X drive. The only negative comments for this drive were:
- Failed to backup SD2 protected CDs
- Low CloneCD performance with LaserLock protected CDs

I guess this answers your question. The tested drive had PleXWriter PX-W1610A firmware v1.00 (TLA #0000). Perhaps there is or will be a firmware version that will permit copying of this type of protected stuff? Plextor's web site does not have any firmware updates for this drive yet. Too new? I don't know that much about burning copyrighted material as I mostly make audio CD's. If you care to increase my knowledge regarding this matter I'd be grateful.
Cheers

paradox0521: Plextor has at various times including firmware on ALL of its drives that block the copying of some copy-protected discs. Check out CDRInfo and other forums, and you'll find details on how to temporarily flash your drive with an older firmware to make it work.

The Plex16x is just out, so there aren't many tests yet, but I guarantee that it will function just as every other Plextor has in that area.

And no, I'm not that interested in copying copy protected stuff.
