I finally got my order in. $177.79 shipped. Thanks to ctk9090 for his help.
The CSR PM it with $205 bare drive instead of the the $210 on newegg. I think she was new because she kept puting me on hold for each question.
"Price Match? Please hold. What state do you live? Please Hold. ..."
She didn't ask me where I got the $40 coupon though...Yipee.
Used the $40 coupon and voila.

I have an 8x plextor and it works great. On a 800mhz Duron w/ 128 meg ram. I download and played an avi movie while burning a cdr with success.
 
guys.. just letting you know that Yamaha has just released a 20x10x40 drive with 8mb buffer and their version of burn proofing. I can't remember what they call it but it is essentially the same thing. No doubt plextor will follow suit in a few months. I've been holding out for the 20's myself because 5 minutes for a 74 min disc is just too long!!! 😛
 
hey, do u know exactly how long the plextor will come up with their 20x?? I know the plextor is better yamaha, so its gotta be plextor all the way.
 
Damn all of you that are getting this drive cheaper than I initially did. I hate it when my own deals burns me on the A@@. 😉 Anyway, this deal is getting hotter, just like the weather. Here's an editing bump and a new low price.

The CSR said they didn't have them until I asked if she would check an item number for me. Voila! Oh My, she says. I guess we do have it.

Pricematched ucdweb.com for $219.00 dlvd less $30 coupon made it $189.00 dlvd. Less than the Velocd 12/10/32 I just got from buy.com. Guess it's going back.
 
Hehehehe This is quite the dilema.... If I could only get enough of these, I'd retire off of the folks on E@bay!!!! hahahahah

Either way, mine is in route for 189.00 shipped. As for the 20x, well... the following week there'll be a 24x... then a 28x... then a 32... and after a while, you'll put the blank cd-r in and it will spit it out in a retail jewel case with a printed jacket... then when it finishes, it will send a signal through the air to start the microwave reheating your dinner and draw you a nice hot bath and clip your toenails...... Yada yada yada....

Awww... you can't chase technology forever... (and still have a positive balance in your checking acct...)

Got in on this deal and even managed to sweeten it! I pricematched with ucdweb.com for $211 plus $8 shipping and used $40 off $200 coupon talked about before with final price of $179 plus tax. Now here comes the bonus, get a $35 five inch b&w portable tv for free. Use the coupon described on Jumpondeals.com and every purchase over $100 gets the tv free. SWEEEET!

Well, I have to say thanks as I got my order in. I had just purchased the Teac cd-w512eb, but it doesn't work with discjuggler. Had no problems as everything was smooth talking with the first CSR I got. She was nice and happy and the whole order was done in 10 mins.

I don't know what staples is trying to pull on this one. But I think that something funny is going on here. Or maybe it was just a glitch.
I ordered this on tuesday and then I got a call on thursday and was told that there were no more in stock. they said that my order was going to be cancelled and my CC would not be charged. that there was nothing I could do.
So I just called again tonight and talked to someone alot nicer. they said that thier system shows that ALL of the warehouses show at least 40 units (In Stock) at each location. so she replaced my order..PM & Coupon
Hopefully I'll get it this time.
 
Read the first page, I bought one on Monday, got it yeaterday. You have to give the CSR the order number since it's a special order product. I matched to the $ 205.00 price at Newegg.com
 
I just want to say that my expeirence with Staples was a NIGHTMARE. I was litterally on the phone for over an hour and the CSR gave 500 excused for why she couldn't accept the drive on a ton of the websites. I finally got it for $193.15 (live in TN and the tax $14.72 killed me). I used www.avlogic.com for the pricematch. They have the retail version with the "correct" part number and cheap shipping. Staples PM $218.43 then I used the $40 off $200 coupon (the lady was so tired of dealing with me she didn't even question the coupon, she just accepted the code and was happy to get off the phone with me 🙂) I got pretty frustrated and gave in, but i think i could have gotten cheaper.
 
OH yeah, my CSR wouldn't accept the newegg.com site. She said they had a memo telling them they they could NOT PM anything that was OEM. I should have called back and got another CSR, but like i saud, I was tooo tired(lazy) 🙂
 
YESJust wanted to say that I recieved mine today. In 4 days. Not bad concidering they cancelled my forst order because they said they had none in stock.
I am a happy camper now though....
