Computers4sure has this drive for $250. I'm not really sure how brands4less works but there's a $25 of $100 rebate listed on there website. There's also a $20 cash back thing listed for 4th of july. So with free shipping, you could get this drive for a good price.

I see the $20 cash back deal at Brands4Less, but I don't see the $25 rebate anywhere... Can you point me to it please?

<edit>NEVERMIND!!! I found it...</edit>

I see the rebate listed on the Brandforless site, but clicking through doesn't show any rebate on the Computers4sure site - interesting.

I don't see the $25 rebate listed anywhere after I click on that one of 6 squares...is that just on the Plextor 12/10/32X only?

Can you apply two BFL rebates on the same order number? I think the fine print says no...

The way I read it, on the link it says: "Combine $25 off $100 rebate with these Hot Deals. When you click through, it take you to the Hot Deals. Maybe I'm wrong?

Actually, the $25 off $100 purchase is for Hot Deals section only. Doesn't apply to any other deals. The Plextor drive isn't part of the hot deals section.. it's in the daily deals section.

Hi, iwyhoouuse--

Now, let me get this straight--you saw that the drive was on sale at C4Sure, and with the $20 rebate & the shipping rebated, it comes out to $250, right? Seems like to me that the Onvia.com deal is STILL better, especially since you get the $25 coupon UP FRONT, and the shipping is FREE--Also UP FRONT, and then there's the Pointclick rebate, which gives you another 10%. Onvia.com just reduced the price of their drive to $259.29, so if you take $25 from that, it makes it $234.29, and then 10% through Pointclick subtracts another $23.93, making the total price from Onvia.com: $210.36. Still beats your deal by around $15, and you only have to wait on the Pointclick rebate.

This is not a criticism, but the next time you think about posting a deal, you might do a search first, because the Onvia.com deal is definitely a better deal, and if you want to post to it, letting everyone know that an alternative place for obtaining the drive is Computers4sure, that would be more helpful than posting an entirely different thread, where the deal is not as good as the original deal, which was posted by Krunk here:
http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.cfm?catid=40&threadid=188513

And then was duplicate posted by Maverick here: http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.cfm?catid=40&threadid=190845 (from another different location, which also was not as good of a deal as the Onvia.com deal).

Perrytexan - I'm sooooo sorry I didn't take the time to do some research before I posted this deal. People like me who post deals without researching really piss you off right? A simple "There's a better deal than this" and a link would have been sufficient. This is not criticism but next time try not to be such a hardass :). Now that you've proven this deal to be a suck... this thread can die now.

If you sign up for pointclick, and buy through their website, you get the 10%. You just have to fill out a reimbursement form.

PerryTexan,

I'm not sure what got into you but with the final prices from each being about a $15-$20 difference when taking advantage of all of the pricebreaks I think that's close enough to still consider this a hot deal and an option for those who may not want to go through Pointclick. I know lots of folks on other forums who are very anti-Pointclick due to the past nature of their business and how the checks have been troublesome in coming.

If you take Pointclick out of the equation and that isn't hard to do(yes I have dealt with them for 4-5 months now), you'll find they're pretty competive and both places have treated their customers pretty good. Sure, you get the discount up front at Onvia but if someone has a good reason that they won't or can't do business with Onvia, they do have an option. There's always room for more than one hot deal on a single item.

Hi, Capster--

I didn't mean to come off sounding harsh, but it sometimes aggravates me when the same product is posted several different times, instead of adding to the original poster's thread, or opening another thread referring to the original. If both Maverick and iwyhoouuse had done a search, they would have found the original post by Krunk. He's the one that found it, and unfortunately, the thread was locked.

What either could have (or should have) done is to open another thead, referring to the original, and posted their ADDITIONAL information, such as the availability of the necx & C4Sure.com items. That way, what you're saying about "more than one good deal on this team" can be reflected.

When all of use work together to find these deals, and post them in the ORIGINAL thread, that means we can go to that single thread and find out all the informaton about what hot deals can be had on that one product.

You're right, they're fairly close in price when you don't factor in the PointClick rebate, but if you remove ALL rebates, the Onvia one beats the Computers4sure deal, simply because of the free shipping and the $25 coupon. I have ordered from BOTH places, and I know how long the Computers4sure rebates take (usually AT LEAST 4 weeks, and sometimes more), BUT--if you factor in all the rebates, the Onvia deal still is a better deal overall.

I want to make it clear that I don't think there's anything wrong with this deal at all--it is a "Hot Deal", but it isn't quite as hot as the Onvia.com deal, and the point I'm trying to make and WAS trying to make is this--SEARCH BEFORE POSTING!! You may find someone has already posted a deal, and your deal may help contribute to someone actually finding a REALLY hot deal, if you post to the original deal.

Unless your computer has alot of problems I don't see why it wouldn't work. As for it being good, I have a Plextor 20x8 and it's the best thing I've ever bought for my computer except for adsl service. I've read that plextor drives are the best.
