i bought the plextor cd-rw and received it a couple days ago, i tried to make the copy of the software disk, but the last few seconds it just hang and dies, i tried on two disk and the same thing happens, and also i got a Adaptec easy cd creator 4 deluxe, but when i install it the software can't recognize the cd-rw, the computer threat it as a cd-rom only. can anyone help me with these two problems, thank you very much

hmm.. tried nero?

Also, have you tried using discdupe?

Oh, and my experiences with adaptec is that its ASPI layer doesn't support the 12/10/32a, so you're best installing the plextor manager software to get its aspi driver(if you haven't already).

Adaptec is good, but Nero tends to come out with more updates, plus you can try the demo version, etc... I know everything from 5.0.0.3 nero has supported the 12/10/32A and burn-proof.

thanks man
but why i can't back the software this up, it is very confusing to me, since there is nothing that looks special about the disc and also when i put the disc in the computer hang for couple times, then the last time i put it in it was running like nothing has happened.

looks doesn't mean a thing. They are very cleverly encrypted and thus are only a few programs that can read past the encryption.

There might be anupdate for Adaptec that will support your burner. Or you can just use the one that came with the burner for now.

That's one of the problems with the Adaptec that came with it, it won't work for me unless I install hte plextor manager software to get the plextor ASPI driver in the system. Without this, adaptec won't recognize the drive.

Nero doesn't have this problem, though 🙂

if you are getting ASPI errors with your Adaptec CD-R software:

First, make sure that you've only got one copy of ASPI on your
system, and that it's in the right place:

1.Open Windows Explorer.
2.Select Tools | Find | Files or Folders.
3.Search your entire system for WNASPI32.DLL. In a proper
configuration, there should only be one copy, and it should
be in the \\Windows\\SYSTEM subdirectory. (If you have
multiple operating systems you will have multiple
WNASPI32.DLLs appear in the various SYSTEM or
SYSTEM32 subdirectories. This is normal.)
4.If you find a WNASPI32.DLL that is not in SYSTEM or
SYSTEM32 subdirectory, delete it
