So it's a midterm election year, the gen pop has mostly moved on from Bush and is focused on Obama. Congressional Dems and Reps are polling fairly poorly. Dems are moving on their agenda and Reps are opposing citing disaster if Dem policies are enacted. This tactic has proven effective as Dem initiatives have taken hits in recent months.

Enter the books.

Bush, his wife, Rove, Rummy, Paulson and and possibly Cheney are all set to publish next year. Dems are likely to use the publicity to dredge up 00-08. Reps are likely going to try to make it a referendum on Obama, but if he stays in the mid-upper 50s, that isn't going to hit very hard. We're a long ways out from 11/10, but if I were a rep I'd probably want these things to be postponed till after midterms.
