Pledge of Allegiance Unconstitutional

Red, maybe you are right for your era, but the new Pledge is all I have ever known, it is all most children have ever known. Why change it now?

Goodwin HAD TO COME OUT OF RETIREMENT TO FILL THE SLOT. He retired from the 9th, then had to come back because of the stonewalling the democrats have done to prevent Bush appoint appeallet judges. There ARE ALOT of open seats, that need to be filled, and there will likely be two USSC justices stepping down(one righty and one lefty) before Bush's first term is up. Yes Goodwin was appointed by Nixon, but much of the 9th was not, 80% of it was appointed by Clinton and Carter, and there are as I said before ALOT of judical slots that are in need of filling, and would already be filled if the democrats would stop stonewalling. If this ruling stands, the Republicans should easily take the Senate back and gain a few seats in the house. Meaning no more stone wall, and well, all the vacant spots will be filled with right leaning justices.

But as I said, you liberals better hope it gets overturned by election time, if not, theres going to be a right majority on all the courts, even the 9th, before the end of Bush's first term.
Really, how is that? Maybe if you weren't reciting the constitution, you would know that these judges are appointed for life. And maybe if you took your head out of your A$$ for a minute, you would know that the judge who wrote the ruling is a Nixon appointee.

Maybe you should take your head out of your A$$. Judges can be removed.

Article III, Section 1 of the U.S. Constitution states:

The judicial power of the United States, shall be vested in one Supreme Court, and in such inferior courts as the Congress may from time to time ordain and establish. The judges, both of the supreme and inferior courts, shall hold their offices during good behaviour, and shall, at stated times, receive for their services, a compensation, which shall not be diminished during their continuance in office.

When will rightwingers learn. Just because someone's politics are different from yours, that's not good enough reason to impeach someone.

I did not call for an impeach, I just said it was possible to get rid of them. They can and usually serve for life, but it is not a guarantee.

Where does the 225 million "Christian" figure come from? The census bureau doesn't give this information.

The nearest figure I can find is about 150 million adults. So for about 50-75 million people, the expression "under God" has no meaning whatsoever.

I got it from here Religion. Digging around on that same site they do show a figure of 155 million adults.

I also view the words "Under God" to mean whatever God you believe in.
If I hadn't of found out that the words "Under God" were added in 1954 I wouldn't have cared. I truly believe that the Pledge should be as it was intended and not what Frightened Politicians changed it too during the Red Scare era of our Country.

I already knew this. And changing the pledge back to what it was originally intended won't make the slightest bit of difference to Christians or to patriotism.

Quit giving them the truth, DaveSohmer, it will scare them off, or dilude their reasoning. Then what would they have?

😕

Oh, maybe they could talk about Worldcom, or Martha Stewert, or other inciteful news that really impacts the pocketbook. That is the God most here seem to worship. Perhaps they would consider that a more worthy considration,.........children pledging allegence be damned.:disgust:

Well if it is around 300million that goes hand in hand with what various news outlets are saying "96% of americans believe in God". Its been said on all three major cable news networks(CNN, FOX, and MSNBC).

From DaveSohmer's link:
Christian church adherents were defined as "all members, including full members, their children and the estimated number of other regular participants who are not considered as communicant, confirmed or full members."

EDIT: In other words, those who never attend church but were baptized are counted as part of that 225 million.

Closer to 300M me thinks.
you mean 300M hypocrites or 300M who are real Christians?

300M total population by head count. Head count not done in a church.

Now you exaggerators have 300Million.

It's 225 million - including children and those who NEVER go to church.

The fact that almost every single legal expect thats been on air be it on ABC, CBS, CNN, FOX, MSNBC, has said this will get overturned before it gets to the Supreme Court, should tell ya something apoppin... Its not going to stand... Theres a 1983 precedent that the USSC could use as well.

When a court has 27 or its 29 rulings overturned, its obvious they are way out of touch with the population.

For the past 20 years pollsters have polled 85-96% of people believing in God. Yes polls can be skewed, but people that do not believe in God, are a small minority, comparitive to those that do believe in God.

Which includes people like me. People who are non-Christian by choice. That number is obviously inflated. It's the equivalent of saying you're all Mormons, because you will be whether you like it or not. Seriously. The Mormon Church will baptise you ex-corpus and claim you as their own.

I will type this slowly, since you reading seems to be off😉

300M is the total population in the US of all religion. There are close to 300M live bodies in America.

Actually the number is 287M as of 11:54pm today.

I am not going to continue to discuss this. There is no purpose in it. You have your opinion as I do.

We'll see. (and THEN we can discuss it) 🙂

EDIT: Thanks for the link to the US Population clock, charrison. It's bookmarked now.

(Does this include illegal aliens too?) 🙂

Do you really think the government going against the Will of the people in this matter is a good thing? Is the phrase "under God" so reprehensible to some of you? I could take it or leave it as far as the Pledge is concerned.
I'll file that under "Who Cares?"
Pat Robertson does. Tune in to the 700 Club for his precise opinion. 😎

In reality this doesn't really matter to me one way or another. I just like these type of threads. They are so much better than threads like "Why Don't Girls Like me" and " Bruce Lee or Coke?"

Hahaha.. He's the best weapon those who are for the ruling could have. Him and Jerry Falwell.

"I don't know!!! You guys can't handle the words 'under God' without getting all worked up....How could you handle me????? And Yes, it really is perfectly rounded...just ask psycho!!! Big, beautiful, sexy, and yes, very round and touchable!!!! "

You got me laughing, Fettsbabe! 😀

Are we by chance namesakes? 😉 😀
