im about 70% done.. and its a real "WORK" trying to play any more.

pointless driving all over the place and no real benefits if you do "extra" work of talking to your buddy and taking that mission instead.

So far the whole game is real easy and nothing is slowing me down yet except the boring game play.

yeah, sadly, if i keep doing the 'buddy' missions in the main mission, they end up in a body bag really fast most of the time. maybe i should just skip it.

The one Buddy I have lost so far(although I think I lost the 2 I had at the end of Act 1 :shrug;) I'm not sure why she died. She went down a couple times, but all the enemies were killed when she fell again. I was out of Syrettes(sp) by then and just Mercy killed her.

this is where the GTA element would have added to the game..

you could mercy fucked her afterwards.. lol

WoW. it's not just one hugh WTF moment, it's 2, first when you're picking up the diamond near the end.....

then the ending.....

well, anyone knows what the 'additional contents' do? i have all the passwords from gamefaqs.com, i'm just wondering what kind of missions it unlocks.

It opens the predecessor tape missions. There will be an icon of an envelope on your map, you go there and pick up the envelope. Once you do that there will be a white target icon on your map which leads you to pick up a tape of another guy sent in to kill the Jackyl.

I only did about 4 of the missions and never finished the satellite missions either before I had beat the game.

finally beat the game. I took the diamond, does it have different ending if i take the battery?

overall, stupid game. had so much potential, crippled by stupid run around missions. Mods should be good for this.

blah I give it C-.

The ending is basically the same thing, and the battery ending is pretty lame.

the battery ending is quicker. but pretty much the same.... i guess the tape missions isn't enough to save it from uninstall since i'm done. time to play dead space, that looks promising.

Well, I nearly quit playing during the second mission when I kept dying because I kept doing stupid things and had not yet figured out the game, but then I realized there was a quick save. option If it weren't for quick save, I know I wouldn't have bothered tying to finish. The time it took trying to get around to each mission and then back for you next assignment is just too much to do more than once. I don't know how anyone had the patience to finish this game on the consoles without the quick save option.

I finished it today and my total game time was right at 25 hours and I only found around 90 diamond cases and left several side mission not attempted, so this game has a lot of possible play time built into it. Overall I actually did end up enjoying the game . Not a great game, but enjoyable and a very long single player version, especially by todays standards, It still reminds me alot of GTA San Andreas, but with a solid FPS shooter aspect. However, I felt the ending was extremely disappointing.

The game is not a classic, but I don't think it's terrible either. I believe if they had not called the game Far Cry 2, it would be much better received.

Meh. Much of the length was phony, not real content. It was mostly from super fast respawning outposts which you need to blast through again. If they had more quick travel locations (bus stations) on each map, this thing would have been over far faster.

As for the San Andreas comparison, you didn't get shot at nonstop in San Andreas. If you aren't wearing gang colors and don't raise hell, it's actually possible to enjoy a peaceful drive down a street.

If they would have added helicopters to this game, it could probably be finished in a couple hours or less if you stuck to the story missions.

Of course that would not have really fit in with the area or story, just saying that most of the game was driving and fighting guard checkpoints. Towards the middle of the game I just started going off road around the checkpoints wherever I could and taking waterways and bus stops as much as I could to get to the end.

the game gets better when you can afford to get the SVD sniper and the PKM or SAW machien gun and the UZI. thats when you can start killing off guys with ease. i already beat the first part of the game, and found every diamond with the help of a map of them. i did all the missions and it was the same shit over and over. it took 23 hrs partly due to the massive driving. it says on the stats that i drove about 238 Kilometers :Q :Q :Q oh and also make sure you can buy all the upgrades for all your guns, new guns with no upgrades are useless after using them heavily in 2-3 . they will start jamming and sometimes the sniper will just blow up on you.

i am now in the second part of the game, the South. its the same thing again. nothing new but new landscape. more boat driving. more agressive Jeeps with grenade launchers that you really have to watch out for.

but really, the game gets a little better when you can afford the good guns. otherwise it sucks asssssssssss.

What he said. The irritating patrols and goons coming out of the woodwork never goes away, but it can be kinda fun once you get some good weapons. IEDs are fun to play with, as is the grenade launcher (the one with the scope, the one under the pistol slot isn't nearly as good), and the SAW is awesome, especially once you get the ammo upgrade for it.

Sweet, I thought I was the only one totally underwhelmed by FC2 after reading all the glowing reviews. I got past the couple of missions and got bored.

i really wish the guns weren't forced to a specific slot. you should be able to mix and match them for more variety or preference.

Agreed. Should be a Holster Slot, then 2 Shoulder carried Weapons of one's own choosing.

They should have a enemy kills statistic a la GTA. Also I think you should be able to get your diamonds by killing warlords/militiamen/mercenaries rather than finding them in briefcases (#1 pet peeve).
I'm now at 8% (on easy mode) and am enjoying the game a bit more...

i thought there was a statistics screen that showed all kinds of stuff, % of game finished, accuracy %, # of kills, etc?

# of kills aren't shown on the page that I get displayed. Rounds fired, and percentage of hits are, and a bunch of other stuff are, but not a body count.
Even though I play PC games at least 20 hours a week (single player only - lol) I seem to have an extraordinary slow learning curve. So it's possible I just haven't figured out how to access all the stats yet...

I just started and have about 6 hrs play time. I actually haven't even done the first faction mission yet. I've just been doing the gun dealer and assassination missions to unlock and purchase better weapons. I agree with what others have said. This game suffers from weird design issues. Travel is a pain, and the constant running into enemy vehicles traveling is annoying. On the other hand I can see why they added the vehicles and guard posts all over the place, because if they didn't, travel would be even more boring.

And what's up with the mouse lag?! Turning down some graphics options helped with the ingame mouse lag, but the menu lag is horrible ! How can any dev play this game and the first words out of his mouth not be "hmm, maybe we should fix that."
