I am buying a GA-8KNXP and don't really know what memory to get, I am interested in getting the most stable DDR400 possible. I will most likely not be overclocking. I would have bought Corsair but I have heard there are some compatabilty issues with some sticks but I am not sure which. Thank you.

I have the same issue here. I've been trying to figure this out for over a month now. Can someone with one of these boards post what memory is going work right out of the box...Please!

Sorry, I didn't want to add to your post, but could some tell me if the ATI 9500 Pro is going to work in this motherboard...also right out of the box?

875 Compatibility

Thanks,
Domy

Hey guys....

I have the GA-8KNXP(non ultra) right now with 2 sticks of GIEL 512 mb(1024 total) Ultra Plat. PC3500 in it. I also have a 2.4c at 260 FSB. My GIEL is at 2.7 DIMM Voltage and I have only encounter 1 issue so far. I emailed Gigabyte but have yet to hear back. This memory ran at 215 FSB(430 DDR) easily with no erros, Prime'd for 14 hours. Right now my CPU is running at 260 FSB at the 1.33 divider. It seems as though whenever I use the 1.66 divider I have problems but the 1.33 divider works fine. I also had to set the memory timings manually. They are set at 7/2/3. They SPD at 8/4/4 but I had problems at the SPD setting also....below is what it looks like.

2.7 DIMM Voltage, Default CPU voltage, Dual mode

CPU FSB 215 / MEM FSB 215(430 DDR @ 2.0 divider) Prime 14 hours, no problems

CPU FSB 250/ MEM FSB 200(400 DDR @ 1.66 divider) Prime fails after 30-40 minutes

CPU FSB 250/ MEM FSB 162(325 DDR@ 1.33 divider) Prime ran for 8 hours, no problems.

CPU FSB 260/MEM FSB 208(416 DDR@ 1.66 divider) Prime fails within 30- 40 minutes

CPU FSB 260/MEM FSB 169( 338 DDR@ 1.33 divider) Prime ran 12 hours no problems. (this is where it currently is set at)

Now.......as you can see no matter what setting I use the 1.66 divider Prime fails on me even if the memory is well within/under its rated speed. NO ideas but other than that this board has been great.

*EDIT and this is with a 9700 Pro, O/C'd also, 8x AGP fast writes enabled.

Oops, sorry about the double post.

Has anyone out there had any experience with Kingmax 3200
memory with this board?

I purchased the CORSAIR MEMORY XMS Extreme Memory Speed Series 512MB 32MX8 PC-3500C2 With Platinum - Silver Heat Spreader.

It works great I haven't messed with the timings yet, and I havent had any problems, stability was my main concern.

I have put in 2 Crucial 512MB DDR PC2700 DIMMS with no overclocking and have not had a single ounce of problem. I dropped them right in and it booted the first time and XP loaded fine. I have loaded XP twice and I had no problems either time.

I hope this helps.

guys, read this (from newegg reviews: http://secure.newegg.com/app/CustratingReview.asp?item=13-128-185):

"I have this board working and the system up with no prob.
I emailed giga-byte on what mem. to use with this board
and they said Kingston it will work better.I am using
Kingston HyperX KHX3500/512 in Dual Channel and works great.
All and All a great Motherboard."

I have Kingston HyperX KHX3500 as well and haven't experienced any problems. Also, I tested this memory with Memtest86 for two hours and I didn't get even one error.

I run Pentium 4 2.6 GHz at 2.7 GHz with memory timings 2-3-3-6. With these timings the board is super stable. I tried to lower the timings to 2-2-2-5 but the board wasn't that stable any more.
