You have to modify fusetalk to cut off additional {q}{/q}s if possible, but even if that is possible, jesus christ would come back from the dead before it happened. Considering this has been brought up many times, even in forum issues.

Sadly, I think you are correct on all counts.

Yes, it's annoying. Not because I'm some anal thread Nazi, but because it makes the thread extremely hard to read. When the quotes start getting that big, I'll just skip ahead in the thread past that stuff, or stop reading it all together.

I hate them :p

Not threatened, a bunch were given vacations for it. Personally, unless the quote is useful, I trim it. I try to limit my quotes to 2 nested if at all possible. An fact, when .NET came out, for about 6 months I rebelled against the quoting system. I was hand coding the old style of quoting with the reater than signs and italics. Then I got tired of it, since .NET was staying so I stoped and just trim my quotes.

Yeap, gotta love being part of the nested quoting ban X2..
Booo.

At least 3 of the threads I have tried to read today have had major nested quote fights screwing up the page formatting and requiring sideways scrolling to read.

Like many, I set the options to view 100 posts/page, so having one page's formatting fuxored usually makes me just give up on a thread even if I was somewhat interested. Scrolling side to side on every post is just too distracting to my reading.

I was under the impression that this was not allowed, even when it is not used to nef. Yet some of the biggest offenders I see are Lifers, or people with early join dates (i.e. people who should know better).

Nobody should need the entire conversation posted every time a new response is added. If your short term memory is so bad that you can't remember what is going on, just scroll up and reread the thread.

I understand the desire to get in a fast response in a heated debate, but it only takes a few seconds to delete the redundant info.

Please, won't somebody think of the children?

I agree.

say what? i can see where this thread is going.

Omg u guys stop it. Dint u kno? The internet is serious bidness

it's more of a software issue than a poster issue.

Wrong. the S/W is a tool. It's effectiveness is based on the fool that is using it

Next person to play the nested quoting game gets a week off.

Any takers?

Please don't. In spite of the jokers, I'd still like to get the word out to a few more people.

I want to see who needs enough rope to hang themselves. Most members here know that blatant nested quoting will result in a ban. After my 'gentle reminder', continuation of them would be really deserving of a week off, doncha think?

See it your way, then.

It is not instigating to be right out in the open and warn people that if they continue doing what they know is wrong, they will have to face the consequences any more than posting a sign for a speed camera as a warning is instigative.

We will agree to disagree here and let the potentially offending members decide if it is worth risking a week off for, shall we?
