Please stop merging threads. It's really not helpful at all.

I can't even open the Bioshock thread anymore because it's full of spoilers. It's hard to navigate through it trying to read people's opinions and other discussions of technical issues without seeing spoilers all over it. Why can't we just have a few separate threads about the game? PC Gaming doesn't get THAT much traffic that we have to consolidate so much.

Also, I had been following the "Am I losing interest in video games? by njdevilsfan87" thread, but now it's been merged into this 403 post monstrosity. Seriously, it wasn't necessary. FIVE threads in one? Come on!

So please, mods, and Schadenfroh, please stop merging threads so much.

Thank you for the feedback, mb. I have sent DAPUNISHER a note that it might be time to reset the Bioshock thread and the PC Gaming Doom and Gloom Thread is getting rather long.

In regards to necessity, if Bioshock's discussion was not contained, the entire front page of the forum would have been just Bioshock threads (for the past month or so). I believe a similar thread consolidation was done at the time of World of Warcraft's launch.

As for the PC gaming Doom & Gloom thread, at one point there were three threads on the front page discussing how PC / Video games today were horrible and the exact same kind of discussion (mostly the same people as well) was being posted in parallel in all three.

Say what you will, but having several identical (or at least near identical) threads at the top discussing the same thing in parallel can take prime viewing space away from other people's topics that are different.

Moderator perogative - let them read the threads and seem if there is a commonality.

Also, people may post info in only one thread; thereby depriving the other threads of the information.

We (the PC gaming mods) have decided not merge threads for a while.... we will see how it goes and I hope that other users will give us feedback in regards to if they want similar topics consolidated or not.

Hmm I came in here to complain about not merging them, but then I read OP about things being spoiled, even in technical problem discussions, which makes a lot of sense and wasn't something I thought about before.

There's always the option of locking duplicate threads with a link to the first thread.

We are currently seeing the problem in PCG, in my opinion, with not merging threads. A flavour of the month game comes along (in this case Age of Conan) that litters the entire subforum with threads. I can barely find anything now with all of the AoC threads filling up the place.

I prefer the old way of having an "official so & so" thread when a new game comes out, it's much cleaner that way. But maybe it's just my OCD acting up...
