Please stop locking oblivion threads

We the users/customers/whatever don't want to wade through a bajillion pages just to find the answer to our one post that is intermingled with dozens of other active threads munged into one.

It's confusing, annoying, and makes the whole purpose of a forum useless.

If you want to go on some consolidating rampage I think there are some better topics you could start with.

Besides, WHERE is the oblivion thread? Oh yeah, that's right you are sending everyone to a thread with no sticky and everyone hates the concept so much the thread doesn't get enough traffic to keep itself on the main page.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When the locks were started, it was due to there being 10+ Oblivion threads, some technical and others opinions/gossip.

Inoformation/answers many times were already provided before such threads were started.

The locking was started for the good of the forum and it still will stand.

I agree. Using the "Search These Messages" on the monster Oblivion thread hasn't been yeilding any results either for words I know are in there.

for searching within long threads, i find hitting the "print this message" and then searching the long view much easier 🙂

It seems to me AT search in general has been somewhat broken for as long as I've been a member (almost three years).

you emphasize "customers" as if this is Oblivion's own customer service forum.

No, he emphazised it because we are all "Anandtech Customers". Some people do click the ads to help them out and, no matter how loose the connection may be, that does make us customers.

I could understand the Oblivion threads being locked when it was released. However, I see people posting all matter of problems now and I never can understand why they are locked. People who post about a Windows problem aren't told to go post in a single thread are they? Different problems = different threads.

This isn't an oblivion forum, though some people attempt to make it look that way. The search feature on this forum works great, if you want to see a bad one check out worldofwarcraft.com - they may as well not have it.
