hi,
do you have any errors listed in your system event viewer?
if you have errors listed there than those are what you should go after first.
the computer switching off by itself should leave errors in the system event logfile.
did you do a fresh install of xp home on a freshly formatted hd?
let us know what you find in the event viewer, though from the sound of it, you may have both hardware and software problems.

make sure you have all the jumpers in ur drives corrected....(dumb question but....ide not insterted the wrong way..?..sometimes when inserted the wrong way, it can still detect it, but read nothing)....clean ur optical drives using a cd-rom cleaner....maybe that's the case....

what do u do when the comp switches off by itself?....how does it switch by itself?..u sure it doesn't freeze and switches off or reboots?...elaborate...and how does publisher not work well?..what's "not work well?"....does it not run @ all? or run really slowly?...elaborate..

good luck on it dude though....elaborate and we'll be able to help u better :)

i dont quite understand your english, but here goes...

1) try different cd's if you havet, you might just have a couple bad ones

2)check your powersupply, and tell us what your ps is

3)are you sure youre using the program correctly?
