So has anyone tried the Mega Stick from Newegg? It's only about $100 and seems like the best deal. It has a usb plug built in, it's really small, has 128mb, and has a nice lcd display. I'm really thinking about this one.

128mb is not enough

Yeah, it is... what are you talking about?

If i just use it for going to the gym and to go running, then that's plenty of memory.

don't know about the Mega Stick, but I have the Rio s35s (the Rio Cali is comparable) and its pretty good. I got mine for about 110 for 128 expandable.

Another vote for iRiver. I have the 128MB (380T??). Very cool. FM works great, voice recorder works great, and of course the MP3 player works great. Haven't tried the line-in recorder or FM recorder.

If it matter to you, there are Linux drivers for it, or iRiver provides a firmware upgrade to make it act like a true USB Mass Storage Device (haven't tried that yet). Most of those portable MP3 players won't talk to Linux ... if it's based on the SMTP3410, it's a non-starter.

Plenty for me ... at 96 KB/S that holds about 30 or 35 songs ... and in a noisy environment through cheapo earbud headphones, 96kbs is good enough for me.

I used a Creative Nomad II player for a little bit. Takes in up to 128mb smartmedia, has an FM tuner, and is the size of a pack if cigs. You can probably still find them at frys for about $60 on sale.

I liked mine before I dropped and broke it.

I bought a Panasonic SV-SD85 on a whim. It is teeny tiny. I hate it. It uses propietary software to transfer files. I lost the CD Key and now I am stuck with the 18 songs I orginally put on there. Panasonic referred me to their software department. $50 plus shipping to Korea and I can change the songs. Ugh!

Do the players listed above work with Windows Media Player (I know the Rios and Creatives do)?

WTS: Cheap Panasonic MP3 player....18 songs included.

:)

Hey Everyone,

I just wanted to say that i got the mp3 player reviewed on Anandtech. It's the MSI Mega Stick 128 mb mp3 player. It has way better sound compared to the Muvo. The sound is much louder and more crisp. My Windows XP computer recognized it immediately and it was really quick to download songs to the unit. I highly recommend this player for anyone who wants a small mp3 player with an FM tuner. Thanks AT0t
