Ive been playing supreme commander with my current setup and i cant quite run it all on max due to the fact if i have over 500-800 units flying around the screen in a brutal battle, things start to choke pretty badly at times and the framerates drop significatly. If you want to test your system, run supreme commander, set max AA and max texture and detail ect, then crank out a 500+ unit mass army and send them into battle.

Further in the game, say mision 5-6 things get really really intense. I need a 8800 gtx, hope the price drops soon!

I saw some benchmarks for the Supreme Commander demo, and the only card in the test capable of running >30fps in high quality mode at 1600x1200 is an 8800GTX, and it only scraped up 39 fps. Many other cards were crying with <20 fps.

Unfortunately, I can't find the link now to see how the GTS did, but some thread here linked it, I think.

My max res. is 1280 by 1024. I forgot that I owned Oblivion, I got tired of it when I accidentally erased my account.
Why did you buy an 8800GTS if you only play at 1280x1024? Sounds like a waste to me.
I run 1280*1024 on a x1900xt and I often feel like I could use some extra power. You might be surprised how much power it takes to get AA + AF + high res textures at 1280*1024.
Doesn't take an 8800GTS.
What's it take, Alone?
An X800XT or something.
My X800Pro runs pretty much anything at 1280x1024 maxxed out w/ AA/AF. :p
Gee thats funny 'cause I had an X800 Pro and it ran Oblivion like ASS!
Only at 1024x768 with mid quality everything would it be playable.

I also have no idea what the heck Smartazz is talking about. Oblivion is not a MMORPG. I dont know how he erased his "account". Maybe he meant saved games. But he should have enabled auto-save and been using quicksaves and hard saves the whole time.

(if you run max detail @ 1600 x 1200)

I'm playing a 10 day trial of Vanguard on a 22 inch widescreen, max detail, max resolution, and aside from the caching (currently only have 1 gb ram), its extremely smooth and playable.
