I'm looking for a good value in a new video card that supports VGA and TV-Out. I was looking at the $72 Radeon 8500LE from sappire. Here's the catch... I can't seem to find an inexpensive card where the TV-Out is composite as opposed to S-Video.

Thanks for your help!

Are you sure the Sapphire 8500le doesn't support composite video out?

If you think the card is capable of only S-VHS just because the only TV-out connector on the back is a small round S-VHS connector you MIGHT be wrong. Many gfx cards is capable of outputting composite video through this connector using a small adapter to standard RCA-connector.

BUT, I have NO experience with the card you are referring to. Just a thought... it might be a good idea to drop a mail to Sapphire and ask.

Good luck finding a suitable video card!

I have a retail "built by" 8500 and it came with the little converter described above. So now I have either S-video, or RCA composite.

I presume any 8500 with S-video out will do, you just need the converter. Btw, retail "built by" 8500LE is still available at ATI.com for $79

Radio Shack sells a converter for about $20 if you don't want to wait. You can probobly find online for less than $10. I have also seen a cable that has svideo connector on one end and composite on the other. A friend of mine just picked up one at mcm electronics

Just a note hooking computer up to tv using composite sucks. You can't read text at all. You will probobly have no problems with games or movies though.

I belive that almost all retail ATI video cards that have S-Video TV-Out come with a S-Video -->Composite Converter.
I have a 9700PRO and one came with mine, and a composite cable.
