Im sleepin on a full size bed with a crapped out mattress... every morning I wake up I stretch in pain.. having back and neck aches :( Ive been to brookstone and laid on the damn tempurpedic matress.. freakin feels like heaven... I would not be posting this if I could have afforded tempurpedic (1500$) pshhh...

Is there any alternative for comfortable mattresses? Im starting to realize you spend a lot of your life sleeping might as well shell out a decent amount of money for something comfortable.. but that tempurpedic is asking for an arm and a leg.. help an aching man!!

say to your self, is that $1500 worth waking up feeling like a million dollars?

Maybe it might be worht it to shell out 1500 for that bed.

Maybe not, theres many cheaper alternatives out there.

Sealy Posturpedic -Extra Firm don't spring for the pillow-top, you can buy a mattress cover that as nice for less. Wait til you try and compare prices on those..it's damn near impossible as every store has a different name for each model and it makes comparing prices impossible. Just find one that suits your price and screw the name on the ticket. Don't scrimp either , that extra $200 BUCKS will make a difference.

costco recently had a 2 inch impression foam type cover you might like. was like $80 in the twin. I think was $150 for a queen.

wife and I just got a nice new NEw Englander matress. it is awesome.. there are no springs in it. it is this new foam type stuff and I wake up feeling like a million bucks! we got the king size which is right aroun 1600, but we got it for 1000, because it was a display model....

Find a mattress you like and see if they can pull a display model in and sell it to you for a big chunk off. they still have the same warrenty, just people have laid on them to try them out.

Do a google for TempurPedic mattresses. If your local mattress place has one, see if you can demo one. It's niiiice :)

*edit* sounds like me an the dude above me are describing similar mattresses.

You're welcome, glad to be of help. Just make sure NOT to buy any from the Portland, Oregon area or feathers will fly. I'll be there Monday night picking out my new Sealy, then I gotta donate my BIGGEST PIECE OF CRAP Englander to the local Goodwill.

I just got a handme down matress and box springs and it is nice and firm. Before I got this one I put a piece of plywood inbetween the matress and boxsprings. The plywood really helped on my back. If it wans'nt for the plywood i would probably be sleeping on the floor.

Good luck on what ever you get.

Here's the Hot Deal, will someone please PM this threads URL to baffled2 for me? Thanks!

When shopping for mattress, take note of the coil count of each. Just compare the mattress with about the same coil count that you like.
The higher the coil count the longer the mattress will take your beating. :)
Just like ultravox said, pillow top is a waste of money.

Are the Tempurpedic's really that nice and worth $1,500 (the cost of 4 Sealy Posturpedic's!!!)

In this thread someone posted they received a Brookstone employee discount, paying only $600 for a $1500 Tempurpedic ... for a discount like that, I might consider working at Brookstone (blech, retail, shudders) for a little while I'd buy the tempurpedic bed, one of those $1,500 vibrating/massaging/heating chairs and whatever else I can get my grubby Ferengi hands on.

Well this may sound wierd, but I've been sleeping on one of those air mattress's for quite some time and they are DAMN comfy. (Not the camping type, the stick in your closet for unexpected guests type)

Plus you don't have to worry about tiny little critters living in them.

The down side is they tend to have a somewhat short life span. (shorter if you don't sleep alone! ;) )

So you have to get a new one every 3-4 months. But at around $40-$50 it doesn't hurt TOO bad.

Another up side it they are totaly adjustable. Want it harder, add air, softer...........

Another vote for the Simmon Beauty Rest. Only way to find a good matteress is to head down to the local store and try lying on a few of them.

actually the best matress you can get is something that uses pure dense foam... meaning no springs.

mind you these are extremely pricey... they run between 4500 and 7500. if you don't believe me go check the prices at sit n' sleep or some matress store. whyso expensive? I really dunno.

my parents have this type of matress and it's lasted for years. they were forutnate enough to find someone who actually made them a calif-king dense foam mattress for about $500.

this type of bedding will provide you with the best sleep you'll ever have.

I sleep on the AS SEEN ON TV - AEROBED.

I can let air out to make it softer, or inflate to my liking.
This thing is comfortable to be my everyday bed.
