Please recommend a good/cheap web hosting company

I'm looking for a cheap/good web hosting company to host a small 5-7 page site about my home based computer repair shop.

no requirements at the moment just shopping aroud

Might look into google hosting. Get domain name from a reliable registrar (godaddy/namecheap) then set it up with apps for google domain. Works really well for me to setup a quick and dirty static site. Completely free and reliable.

i too have been using hostpc for a long time - no issues.

also, get your own domain name through godaddy - if you get it as part of a package the people that actually register it own it and you may not - this happend to a buddy of mine - he went to change hosting companies and they said that they own the domain name - and according to the whois info they do plus they re-did their license agreement so he had to get a new name and brand - luckily he was able to get something close, but bullshit imho. just an fyi...

Excellent advice and it's worth repeating. Over the years I have received dozens of PM's from people who registered their domain with the their web hosting company. When they wanted to cancel their hosting or transfer their domain, it was nearly impossible.

In addition to GoDaddy.com I would recommend NameCheap.com and most of AT agrees :thumbsup:
