Some development with could use some server power for the apps that I'll be doing. More headroom for the future. Price is pretty good too.

It only has an x8 PCIe slot, so you may be out of luck adding a discrete gaming vidcard in the future. I would recommend just going with a 400SC, then get a more capable system when required. You could probably fully configure a /second/ 400SC for the cost of the 2nd XEON chip.

Looking for stability, rock solid performance in way of server's, U cannot go wrong with DELL. For the applications you wrote about, this is a good server. I use my old BP6 dual celery system for my server, works like a charm.

To buy something like this without a specific target might be useless.

To take advantage of this Gizmo you need Windows 2003, which is excellent as a Real server, but then you might not need a real server. Red Hat Linux Enterprise would work too. However both of them are Not gamimg OSs.

So if you have a specific target that needs this system it is a good deal, otherwise it is a waste.
For regular Home/SOHO File Server a Pentium III with Win98se (for $50) would do well too.
