The order should go like this: ??

epox 8kh7a+
shuttle ak31a
fic an11
ecs k7s5a

???

More specifically, how is the fic an11 on overclockability?

thx

I haven't used boards by any of the makers listed (various by Abit and MSI), but posts I've read seem to indicate the Epox and Shuttle are the best of those listed for overclocking.

I suggest that the best source of info from actual board users would be the motherboard-specific forums at amdmb.com, where you'll get a good sense of both merits and problems for the boards you're interested in.

I'd also suggest you consider RAID versions for the benefit of 4 IDE ports.

My last upgrade was to Abit KR7ARAID. The board runs fine, but if I were buying today I'd probably buy the Shuttle AK35GTR for excellent combination of overclocking, features, price and great reviews.

Hope this helps.

I'd switch the ECS and the FIC around.

Do you mean the 8KHA+ or the 8K7A+?

the 8KHA+ is supposed to be one of the more recommended 266a boards. I have the 8k7a and it also works very well. Very stable.

The FIC and ECS boards would probably be the most reliable because they are made more for the OEM market where stability is the number one factor. The Epox and Shuttle are both quality motherboards, but I've heard more horror stories about the Epox. Most of these horror stories are user error though.
