Resume (Old Resume)
Cover Letter

Let me know what I can do to improve them. I have been applying for many jobs, but am getting little to no response back :(

Also, should I put down that I passed the FE Exam in my resume?

you should include an 'objective' type heading at the top of your resume

edit: I would also include the same heading you used in your resume as pasrt of your cover letter. It looks more continuous that way and has more of a professional appearance

I keep hearing different things about that. Some people say to put an objective, and others say not to because when you add an objective you limit yourself.

Keep it somewhat broad and general, however not vague, if that makes sense.

you should take out the waiter and cook experiences.

also, refine the list of the hub enterprises experiences. few of them are a bit wordy and grammatically questionable. go into more detail and tie them to the list of technical skills, instead of throwing around groundless statements.

good luck!

Well, I usually have a generalized objective for my standard resume, however when I apply for a specific position i completely re-tailor my objective to fit that company and position's requirements.

No awards of scholarships here. I had to take a loan out and worked 40 hrs a week for most of college. I was too busy playing in bands to do any of the competitions in IEEE to be honest. I know playing in bands wont help me get a job, but I had a fun time in college doing it.

Objective is useless.

Your 'additional experience' isn't relevant to a real job, so you should lose it. However, you need to fill up most of a sheet of paper... Any good projects, other experience, etc, you can work in there? Even some generic college crap will sound better than working at a restaurant...

Funny thing is that I got a call this morning from an oil company, and they were asking me about what I did as a Floor Technician at my first job

I would add to the technical skills section. Since you have a BA in computer engineering there must be more you can but in there (eg java, linux, more classes). A lot of big companies just do keyword searches through all the resumes they get sent to narrow it down, so the more keywords you have the better.

I totally agree with this, as I work for a big company and have been involved w/ interviewing... add a skills section.

seriously take it out.... "floor technician" at a car wash could mean so many different things, and the very worst they may assume is "janitor".

since you are coming straight out of college and do not have many things to list in the experiences section, you can fill up empty space with a high school section right after the college section. this is a completely valid strategy and will help you out if the employer went to the same high school as you did. list awards, relevant extracurriculars, etc.

finding a connection with the screening officer will distinguish you from the rest of the crowd.

I would add Objective...also try to fromat it to look neater...when staring at it its like WOA!....there is a lot of info on thi spage but all like therem in one place..screw it I have 50 others of these I am not going to read it.....

try a different font also...the one you are using has those little tails ect that makes it hard to read after staring at 60 papers...

Instead of the additional experience add a section titled PROJECTS and list some class projects....

Also in the professional experience try using the same tense " Research -> Reserached" as others are "designed" and "learned". Since your project documented and time management skills were hands-on, IMO "implemented" goes better than "learned".

Also, listing more classes would help....

objectives are kind of usless because people just ask other people to make one that sounds good for them. Every employer I have interviewed or worked with has always ignored the "objective".

the only irrelevant stuff you need to put it is if you held some management position somewhere (like Dominos or a supermarket).

See the problem is that you're putting fake addresses and phone numbers in. So, they can't really contact you. :) J/K.

Good luck.
