I think you might have overpaid on that vid card, only because it is 6months from being almost ancient; however, it is gving pretty decent performance on HL2, so depending on how many games use the source engine, you cold be ok. Vampire the Bloodlines uses that engine, so if you like RPGs (you mentioned that stone age game Diablo II, so I am assuming yes).

All in all, you did a good job. For a budget/midrange system, good job. If I were to change anything, dump the 9800pro and get a regular 6800.

WoW isnt really that system intensive, if your system played diablo II or say everquest; wow would run fine, the intense games are like far cry, doom3, hl2, everquest2, etc , etc

good system i'd agree go nvidia 6800GT if you can the rest is great choices

I'd get a differnt video card, the 9800pro is a bit out of date now, I'd get something between a 6600gt and a 6800GT.

That's a heck of alot of money to spend on a 9800 Pro. You can get one brand spankin new off of outpost.com for $60 less.

That PSU is also a little weak on the 12v rails (18A if I remember correctly) but should run that system well enough.

sorry to say but you messed up. 754 fading out shoulda got socket 939. nf4 or new ati chipset. ram shoulda got ocz el plat. rev 2. bad video card shoulda got 6600gt or 6800gt. also if u were going with 754 dfi nf3 is way better, or msi. and dont worry what that one guy said about ata 100 and ata 133 its a marketing gimic.

Everything looks decent except for the video card. For that money there is no reason to get ATI. Get nVidia 6600 or 6800.

Plus, I probably would go socket 939 also. Prices have come down very low on the lower end cpu's. You should be able to oc to similar 2.2ghz-2.4ghz speeds with no problems.

Just my opinion :)

I agree with everyone's input on the video card, but I also think you should get a sound card. Maybe an Audigy, doesn't have to be too pricey though.

i would spring for a new HD. For not much more money you can get an HD with an 8mb cache as opposed to the measly 2mb the WD1200BB offers. I dunno what you did with the HD you bought, but id suggest buying a new one with an 8mb cache OEM, you dont really need all that fancy packaging and manuals (especially since your friend is building it and probably can set it up without the bundled software)
