Well I was going to try that, but I get the same message some people on these boards got: "Fail to reserve dmi data in EEPROM" when using the update utility. I don't have a floppy either, so I can't try the alt-f2 method :/

Was hoping this one would work without needing a floppy.

To get this to work, you need to floppy flash it...ASUS update doesn't work. It seems stable, I don't think it fixed anything too important...OC's same, no NCQ, etc.

I saw a post in here a while back from someone who claimed to have successfully performed an alt-f2 BIOS update from a CDROM drive with the BIOS files burned onto the CD. You might give that a shot. If you do, Please post here whether or not it worked.

Yes I believe the alt-f2 method for flashing does work from a cd and is outlined how to do it IN THE MANUAL. Chapter 4 near the beginning if I remember.

Part of the problem is some screw-heads at ASUS are disting a 0k zip file on the website downloads, the ASUSUpdate app and the tw ftp site. That is the main reason why you're getting that "Fail to reserve dmi data in EEPROM" message. THe ASUSUpdate util doesn't like the fact ASUS sent it a 0k bios file. Only the de ftp site has a good file. See my post in eVGA SLI forums:

1004.01 has been the best bios for my system (see sig) as long as you use asusupdate in windows and not awdflash to flash it :)

awdflash 1004.01 = no fix to LDT 5x stuck issue or 1T above 240HTT

asusupdate 1004.01 = fixed LDT issue so what's set in bios for LDT remains in windows and 1T stable at 240-260HTT -/+ 10HTT(fsb)
