Please please please, I'm begging you, fix the horizontal scrolling issue

When large images are posted in threads the ENTIRE page scrolls horizontally, making reading the posts infuriating. I was relieved when the VB switch was made because it was only happening on the post with the large image, every other post was still constrained to the screen size. But since adding the sidebar it has broken again.

Example thread

Please fix this, it's the most annoying issue currently on this forum. It was a problem on FT when users posted very long strings without spaces, but it's much worse now because the img tag is enabled.

We're aware of it, and there's a vB module we can install to deal with it. However it's going to take some time to get that approved and done.

In the mean time I highly recommend disabling images.

Does vB not have an image size limit you can set Out of The Box?
I don't think an image size limit is necessary if they can fix the style sheets so that only the offending post will scroll horizontally. I'm not sure why this should take a long time to fix as it's a relatively simple CSS issue, but I'm happy they're looking into it.

Yeah, well SMF does image resizing to your max set in prefs OOTB, just thought vB might have it too.

They said that they were aware of it. Not that it was an issue or even a priority to change.

I suggested a while back they do like my forum. See a sample thread here. Very simple really... each post just needs to be in it's own table. Only the post with the big image will require horizontal scrolling.

Auto image resizing (can even just set a max in the css template) would also fix that, but someone going like this:

--------------------------------------------- (etc)

would still break the thread so putting each post in it's own table is still advisable. I would just do both as 90% of the time it's caused by an image.

Ha looks like my forum software works that way too but not as good.

I started that project YEARS ago and never bothered to finish it. I need to start up again some time.

Like each individual member's preferences? If so that's pretty cool.

i believe it is global, like the mod sets max width of pic to say 500px, but much better than this current setup here when somebody doesn't know how to post a pic and puts up a 2000px wide pic of closeup of a cpu or anything for that matter.

also, smf has rss feeds ootb....why did you guys go vb anyway?
