I think it's very reasonable that imgur does not allow direct image file links.

Imgur end users upload tons of images every day for free,

if allowing direct file links, imgur will not be able to show ads that at least make them some money.

I think acting as a free image host is how they built a user base.

Random image from imgur.com with https

Code:

Got the same "image can not be loaded from the passed link" error as yours if I try to link that eagle photo from your server, however.
Test image I just uploaded to imgur seems to work fine?

^ I just got used to posting to 3rd party because some forums (don't know about AT) have image resolution or file size limits.

^ No the post I quoted which was the post just prior to the plant pic post, where I wrote "Image tags seem to work for me? Sorry too lazy to read entire topic. ;) " has an embedded link to picture of a bird flying, which I can see on my post with firefox but not chrome.

It's what Ironwing posted in this post and the following URL:

http://www.mineralarts.com/images/zonetail_2020_04_23a.jpg

If I put IMG around that link, I can see it in firefox but not chrome.

I get no hints of an image at all in that post!

That's because Chrome no longer allow mixed http/https contents.

Chrome will automatically upgrade the traffic to https IF the site has an SSL certificate. If not, it will block the image.

^ Yeah it's great when companies break things for my own good, when the only problem I ever had was them breaking it.
