I think acting as a free image host is how they built a user base.I think it's very reasonable that imgur does not allow direct image file links.
Imgur end users upload tons of images every day for free,
if allowing direct file links, imgur will not be able to show ads that at least make them some money.

Got the same "image can not be loaded from the passed link" error as yours if I try to link that eagle photo from your server, however.

Okay above post had that eagle flying pic posted previously, I can see it in older firefox but not in chrome.Image tags seem to work for me? Sorry too lazy to read entire topic.
