PLEASE please help me identify this motherboard. UPDATE!!! Pictures added now!!

My bud just got a Maxtor 30 gig drive and his motherboard only identifies it as 8gig so I suspected that it needed a flash.

Problem is I can't find out what kind of board it is.

I think it's an Intel board since its a Triton.

On the corner of the board it has

P5I437/I0 v1.0 (S1.6) Triton P54C
They are either I's or 1's in both instances above.

And on boot up this is what shows up.

I just can't find anything to what exactly this board is. When I do find anything it shows up that intel has like 10 or so of these P54C boards but which one is this one?

Doesn't maxtor have an utility which will allow you to bypass the bios limitation. I have no experience with maxtor but western digital has such utility for WD drives. Maybe you should download silillar utility from maxtor website...

Kilowatt gave me the same reply on Russ' board.

But this board is a P3/IO....Am I missing something somewhere and not searching for the right board?

I did a quick search at motherboards.org didn't find much of any support for your board, but you can download Maxblast from the Maxtor site. It should take care of the lack of support from the mobo manufacture. Use the link. It will take you right to the download site, where you can read all about it.

Here's the European site for QDI. The board may be one of the two listed at the bottom of the chart.

Ok between boards it's narrowed down to two different mobos. I'll take a pic later and post it up here maybe that way it can help clear some stuff up.

That's "51" not "SI" in the ID string. Clean your glasses

... yours has a later BIOS revision 0400, but that should be it.

Thanks Peter. I just realized I had an S instead of a 5. Guess if I were careful all along it would have been solved quickly.

Your problem may not have anything to do with a BIOS flash. I had the *exact* same issue with a Maxtor 30gb on a Giga-Byte GA-6VX-4X. After trying every possible solution I could think of, I changed the setting for LBA Mode in the BIOS and that did the trick. All of a sudden, FDISK showed 30gb instead of 8gb. Let me know if this helps you.
