Please people!!! Let's start supporting AOL...

unless they plan to make hundreds of millions of CD players obsolete, i don't think this media giant is going to get their way!

<< AOL Time Warner's foray into CD copy protection would mark its biggest step yet into the arena known as digital rights management (DRM)--a broad label that covers a variety of technology aimed at preventing unauthorized copying. >>

This is exactly the reason we need to wake up the mass of ignorant drones who buy into the Time Warner/AOL hype machine!

Anyway, I've done my part by getting at least ten ppl I know to switch from AOL to better ISP's and to quit feeding into a company that's
involved in the condoning of personal freedoms!!! 😛

[EDIT:]

Oh just a personal thought for AOL:

How about concentrating less on running the f'in world and more on the acquisition of a tech support team with an education > eighth grade !!

this all assumes lagging music sales has nothing to do with the tripe the major labels are pushing down the pipe.

what a waste of time and money. How long would it be after a copy proof cd reader was introduced before a copy proof cd reader emulator was on the net.

just an FYI AOL hell has been lying about their ISP #'s...
rolleye.gif
...apparantly they have been including all the email alias's under each real user's acct, artifically inflating their overall customer base

I suppose if they didn't have billions of dollars sitting around that they milked out of people who just don't know any better, I would say that they might be sincere but AOL just wants to get their hands into everything now. I STILL can't believe that the merger between AOL and Time Warner was approved. There must have been some SERIOUS bribes going on there because that should not have gone through.

Kind of funny since they give out billions of CDs a day with "1000 free hours". Are they afraid that people are copying them? 😛

<< Wow... AOL owns Winamp? Can't believe i didn't know that before... now I feel dirty.

>>

They aquired nullsoft, who designs winamp. So far they haven;t really changed anything, which is good. But I wouldn't be suprised to find the next winamp loaded with spyware.

Why do they even try anymore? It's like microsoft and all their attempts to prevent illegal installs of their software. It's cracked before it even hits the mainstream markets.

As I read the first sentence...for a second..I thought they were talking about AOL copy-protecting
its CD's that everyone gets in the mail...

Bwhahah..

That would be funny 😀
