Today i got my leadtek A400 ( i ordered it in USA in january). Finally after waiting two months i got it into my hands. However, after I installed the card and pressed the starting button I went through shock. All over the screen I have seen green artifacts (small squares in some kind of pattern). I thought oh.. yes, forgot to unistall the previous card's drivers. After I did so it didn't help. I tried installing the Leadtek's driver included in the card's box, tried swithing DVI to VGA plug but nothing helped. I instlled it in my brothers computer( before doing so I uninstalled all the previous card's driver)- and same thing.
What scares me it that i see the artifacts as soon as i start the computer, even while the bios is loading and the HD check is being made, not only in Windows.
What can I do?Check by using RivaTuner weather the pipes are unlocked? Any ideas?
Is my only choice to RMI it?

Please, please help!!!!!

Is it used or new? The problem is most probably with the card since the artifacts appear before windows startup and also because it did the same thing on another computer. So I guess all you can do is RMA.

that sux man, leadtek are normally good with quality, but i guess even the best companies cant catch all the bad cards

i think here in the UK we get alot better supply of these high end cards, i had no probs pickin up a A400TDH 6800GT from leadtek, and i had a plethora of other brands to choose from, all in stock

Artifacts on startup is never a good sign of being able to get anywhere with that card. I would try starting from scratch and cleaning the contacts (good eraser). air blasting the slot. unplugging everything else to see if its a power issue. Inspecting the board closely for foreign objects or anything unplugged. blah blah blah etc etc....

if it is artifacting on the startup screen most likely the ram on the vcard is gone... what psu do you have wattage, rails, and brand.

I have a Enermax 465W power supply, here is the full name: Enermax EG465AX-VE(W)(FMA).
Ok here's what I have just found out. When I boot the computer I see green artifacts on the black background, purple artifects on whitle background and while BIos is loading all the signs are are like whilte small squares or something. Same case in Windows- black backround= green artifacts, white background=purple artifacts. However after I install the drivers included in the box, after reboot I don't see as many artifacts ( during the BIOS load there are no green artifacts on the black background, only the white signs are all whitle squares again). During the Windows load, I can see artifacts only on the white parts of the logo...however as soon as system is loaded the screen goes black ( on VGA plug the monitor turn-off/on sign starts to blink, acting like couldn't find any connection, and on DVI plug it shows NO SIGNAL CABLE). Well, does it change the case, is there any hope?!!

btw my monitor is SyncMaster 171P

Why is it obvious?
Anyway, that really sucks man. Does Leadtek charge you for RMA shipping? I hope they don't. I am sorry, but it seems like you have a bad card.

One more thing, did you plug the molex connector? Did you check the 12v Rail on the motherboard, sometimes if it's loose strange things happen. Actually I recommend unplugging all the cables in your PC and replugging them again. That might help.
Finally, is the GPU fan running?
That's all I can think of ATM.

I'm on my third A400. The first two had the artifact problem you describe. Finally the third card worked fine. RMA that sucker.

Ok, I will RMA this sucky card. But what is the procedure? Do they sent me the money back or they just send me a new card. I actually wwould prefer to get my money back and go with eVGA this time, I don't want to get another broken card from leadtek:

Broken cards can be found everywhere. My first Asus had the same problem, it was bad memory. Just get your RMA, leadtek is better than EVGA.

Did it look anything like this? I have the same card, and ironically, I think we have the exact same power supply. Mine lasted about four months.

How did your RMA go?

That sounds like what happened to a 9800pro I had, except I got boxes. I sent it back to ATI and asked them what was wrong, and they told me the pipes were fried. BTW, BFG is a great company. I got a 6800gt after the 9800pro and it died too. I sent it too them on monday and got a replacement on Friday.

Is that the matrix code? ;)
Poor guy. I'd be hopping mad if a new card that I bought was busted.
Leadteks have a higher DOA percentage than other companies or something?

I have a Leadtek 6800NU that althoough rarely, sometimes shows artifacts so bad I can't read my boot selector screen. After I press enter and it loads the default OS everything seems to be fine though. It overclocks great and I haven't noticed a single artifact in 3D mode that was due to a faulty card.

I never had a single problem or crash with the card for the four months I've had it, until it just suddenly died in the middle of a game of Rome TW last night.
