please help. 1st of all I purchased my games from compusa. they are legal. Bf1942 was working properly but I upgraded my cpu, mobo, ram, and hard drive. Now it only works single player and without any patches. Call of duty only works multiplayer. I have searched Everywhere and tried everything I have heard. Updated nf2 drivers. I have a
Gigabyte 7nnxp
mushkin hp dual ddr 512 total
wd 120 gig
amd athlon xp 3000
9700 pro
all new drivers I think it is the video game makers trying to screw everyone with an illegal copy and in the process they are screwing me and my copy is legal and I am p.oed. Is that the case if so i will never buy another game. I can build a computer that is easy but trying to get a legal copy of a game to work is like pulling teeth.

Have you tried uninstalling it and then reinstalling it? Did you reinstall windows with your processor/motherboard upgrade? Sometimes it will work without reinstalling windows or doing a repair installation but it will not be very stable. I would highly recommend doing a fresh install.

Yes I tried to reinstall the game several times and tried to update the patches, 1st the latest patch and then the older patches and work my way up. I even reformated and reinstalled win xp. System was a bit buggy so I installed the latest drivers from gigabyte instead of using the cd this time. I will probably get someone to come and help since my general knowledge of computers is average at best. Bill Gates hasn't called me for tech support recently.
Thanks for the info.

can you explain what you had before the upgrade and how you performed the upgrade? did you reformat before starting the upgrade, or did you start it up with all the old mobo data on the harddrive with the new mobo?

More info plz

Thanks for your help guys i finally figured it out. the error was shown in the cd read me and it said to install the latest drivers from your mobo manufacturer to fix it. I had done the but the problem was Gigabyte didnt have the latest drivers on their website for the nforce2 chipset. I went to nvidia and found the newer version problem over. perhaps i should apologize to ea games for the verbal abuse for bf1942 not working. Thanks for the help
