globally, locally, from anywhere and everywhere. i need to compile a few cds of the latest and greatest from the trance/scene for a beloved cousin.
she lives in europe and would like artists of both european and american reknown. heck, throw is some folks from the far east too. specific compilation
album recommendations would be most appreciated too.

A lot of the "Ibiza" tracks are 70 minute mixes of a lot of pop techno and trance.

Paul Oakenfold (also sometimes written as Oakenfield) is one of the highest paid, and most popular techno artists.

Ministry of Sound is from the UK I think, they're pretty cool, they make house music.

That's all off the top of my head, I'll try and think of some more.

they are sort of old....astral projection.
i think its called goa trance. real swirling beats, i think they are from isreal and its reflected in their style
but im not really into that scene.

oh sorry, I thought ministry of sound was a group because I got some mp3's that that's the name of the artist, but it could be a labeling error, I'm sure. Oakenfold sounds pretty techno-ish to me, so I decided to include it.

Royksopp is a group that's what I like to call "chillin' music", it's not really upbeat or anything, but it's just nice to listen to.

Check out:

Royksopp - Remind Me
Royksopp - Dooh Dooh
Royksopp - Eple (full version)

thanks for all the recommendations. very helpful.

what about carl cox ? in the nice link kindest provided carl cox is not listed among the top 25 but he is in the top 50. i ask because
he was a specific request and i'm curious how often these rankings change, are they legitimate, are they accurate, do they tell us
anything, etc, etc . . . ?

bt isn't even listed in kindest's link.

Those rankings are pretty much worthless, as far as suggestions here you go:

Trance:
infected mushroom
astral projection
Tall Paul (more of a fusion of tech-trance and breaks)
Rob Tissera
Judge Jules
Dave Pearce
Sven Vath
Ferry Corsten
Darren Tate

House:
Stacy Kidd
Paul Johnson
boo williams
Mark Farina
Roy Davis Jr.
Robbie Rivera
Anything on the lable Naked Music
inland knights

That should give you a good list to start with.
