I had WinME installed on my PC. I upgraded to Win2K Pro and now I've lost all my file in "My Documents" and I cannot get sound. I'm not worried about the "My Documents" deal I just need my sound back. Anybody know how?

Also, is there anyway I can go back to WinME? I don't have the disk because it was pre-installed on this PC. Is there some type of "Screen Shot" or something where it can go back to that specific date or whatever?

PLEASE HELP ME!

How did you upgrade the OS? Did you re_format the drive and do a clean install or just install W2k over ME? If you re-formatted, you can't get anything back. If you just did an upgrade, W2k has the option of restoring your previous OS (as long as you had it save it). As far as the sound goes, you should search for a W2k driver for your sound card and that should fix the problem.

I just installed it over ME.

The problem with the sound is, it's onboard sound. I have NO idea what kind of motherboard it is either. It's a Compaq computer.

You can go to compaq's site and look for the drivers for your specific system. Usually win2k is really good about putting generic drivers for video. Your my documents folder is probably on your hard drive still (under c:\my documents). Win2k puts it in a folder c:\documents and settings\administrator\my documents. Trying looking on your c drive for it. As for your sound, make sure the volume is turned up. Goto start-->settings-->control panel--> SYSTEM and look and see if your sound card is installed correctly. You *might* need to get win2k compatible drivers from www.compq.com
