I saw This deal at techbargain http://www.techbargains.com/dell-inspiron-3000-deals and it said the cpu is skylake cpu but dell just said 6th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-6700 Processor (8M Cache, up to 4.00 GHz) so my question is this a i7-6700k skylake cpu?

Just how big do you want the ad to spell out skylake and just how many times do they need to put the word skylake in it for you? I count four occurrences of it in the ad myself.

I CAN'T see any indication that it is the 'K'/overclockable version, Sorry!

It is VERY rare for the 'K'/overclockable (I7-6700K) versions, to be in general purpose mainstream consumer computers (except some specialist (often gaming), computer suppliers).

Also it needs a (usually more expensive) special motherboard, suitable for overclocking. Cheaper/low end motherboards, usually DON'T perform overclocking, even with 'K' cpus.

tl;dr
No, it is very likely to NOT be a I7-6700K.

If it says it has a i7-6700, that's what comes with. I clicked the link to Dell's website, and it also says i7-6700 under tech specs. The two CPUs are different skus.

If it came with a i7-6700k, it would state that.

I bought a HP pre-built last year, and it specifically said i7-6700k.

I thought you had MISUNDERSTOOD the OP, and thought they wanted to make sure they get a SKYLAKE processor.

That's a pretty nice deal. Not a super video card, but comparable to my 660 in Futuremark numbers, which is still playing games pretty well. And not a k CPU, but you still get a 4 GHz Turbo speed, which would be the only difference on a Dell anyway (and I personally don't think 200 Mhz would be a noticeable difference).

Add an SSD and you have a solid machine.

Not a bad deal. Honestly with turbo to 4GHz OCing to 4.7-4.8 isn't going to be mind blowing so you probably won't miss much with the K.

It even comes with Win7 Pro. Very impressive, for that price.

If I wasn't into custom PCs so much, I would consider it.
