hi. i have a situation, was hoping for some input..

i am disabled, i use a program called voice buddy to do voice command control of keyboard when playing games. it works very well. however, i am noticing a serious lag, chugging when i play games. this only happens when i have the voice buddy app running, so, i know it is the culprit. i checked the task manager and saw under cpu voice buddy showed a 15, as much as the game..counter strike source i was running. my total cpu use was 25%. after i closed the voice buddy app, my cpu % dropped to 15%. obviously, its using up some cpu power. question is... is this alot? what should my cpu% be? would a faster cpu solve this, or is voice buddy ******? thanks for any input.

25% isn't all that much, although, when running single-threaded apps (assuming you've got a dual-core processor), Windows will average them. In other words, if a single-threaded application is using 50% of your cpu power, on that one core, then it will report 25% on both cores, instead of 50% and 0%. Chances are that you're using the majority of your RAM, and once you add Voice Buddy, CS:S doesn't have enough, and is having to use the hard drive's page file, which will slow any computer down.

Is this something that just started out of the blue? Has it been getting progressively worse, or did it just happen suddenly? What have you updated or just recently installed? As myocardia stated, 25% shouldn't represent a major slowdown. You didn't mention your system specs, but it sounds like a little more RAM wouldn't hurt.

im actually only running single core.. amd 3500. i have 2gb of ram.
i noticed the chugging in-game when i started using voice buddy. it doesnt seem to be ram issue. in task manager, voice buddy app is only using 6,500 kb or so. the cpu% jumps immediately from like 15% to 25% usage just by starting voice buddy. although, like was said, 25% doesnt sound to bad, dunno?

also, when this chugging occurs, im getting 90+ fps! very strange.
