The fan on my A64 3500+ (venice) is giving me all kinds of trouble since I installed it a few days ago. So I'm looking to buy this heatsink and fan. First, will this fan be ok? Do I need anything else? I'm using a msi k8n neo2 plat. board.

Also, unfortunately, I've already installed the heatsink/fan that came with the cpu. So what's the best way to remove the thermal pad residue from a CPU.

Third, I still have some Arctic silver I bought 2 years ago and never used (never opened). will it still be ok? or should I buy some new stuff.

Sorry for all the questions, but I've never done this before and I'm a little nervous.

Thanks in advance

It seems like a decent cooler. It's quiet, and seems like it should work.

I've used rubbing alcohol to remove thermal material, (higher % = better). Not sure if it works on thermal pads though, but I think it might.

The AS should be fine, especially if it's unopened.

Just don't put a whole glob of arctic silver on it, it doesn't take much.
