I just got this mobo last night......i install it and hook everything up. And i went to boot it and hit tab to enter setup. So i don 't change anything at first cuz i just want it to run. I already have XP Pro on my HDD. But if i just let the bios boot and don't hit anything it just sits there, like it's frozen. And like it makes a weird noise when i hit a button on the keyboard. But if i restart and keep hitting tab constantly it will go into bios, but if i don't hit tab before the screen pops up then it freezes.

I tried to open the CD drive to put the XP disk in there, but it won't open.....and i can feel the drive, like spinning so i know that it's working, it just won't open.

Now i was looking around in bios, and i saw like IDE channel 1- None......so i think it's not detecting my hdd.....and i felt the hdd and it didn't feel like it was turned on or spinning eventhough everything was plugged up correctly.

My setup is Abit NF7-S2 with a 2500 barton, 512 of Corsair value sellect, a maxtor 250

simple, hold insert when you boot up. that will over ride all of your drivers that are on there from the previous motherboard... then delete all of the hardware drivers and install your new ones. if that doesnt work, you may need to wipe the xp install and start over.

I did that but....this next time i booted, a screen never poped up. It just stays black, not even a flicker...........WTF MAN!!!!!

Unplug everything except what's needed - just the video, RAM, CPU, and keyboard. See what it does. Then hook up the hard drive.
I'm not quite sure though where it's freezing - is it while it's in POST, is it in the BIOS setup screen, or is it as the system is looking for a device to bootup after POST?

Also, try running the mobo outside of the case, on the motherboard retail box with CPU, video card, keyboard, ram, and monitor. If should make it to "insert system disk..."

One of my builds wouldnt start up because one of the mobo screws was shorting the board to the case.

I will try all of those things.............

Jeff7......It used to freeze after bios booted..........it would say hit tab to enter setup or whatever.....and i would hit tab and it wouldn't do anything but sit there, and make a weird beep whenever i hit a button.

Now it won't even show a bios screen, i hit the pwr button and all the fans come on like normal and everything........it just has no picture.
