first, your system is fine ok
it will post and safe mode loads no drivers so you have a conflict or something, disconnect floppy, pull out all options except for video card(options = anything you dont need to boot) down to one stick of ram and boot her up, if all go fine- and i bet it will, then install one option and boot and so on untill you are put back together
