Hi:

I just got my P4 2.8c, Abit IS7 and Corsair PC3200 512m X 2. After switching out my old board with the new setup and connect everything back, the system booted up but right when loading Window XP Prof (the Windows logo appears) the system rebooted. I changed the Bios to load the Fail/Safe options and the system still get rebooted when Window loads. I then raise the CPU voltage to 1.7 VCore (don't know if that's the right thing to do), but still Windows rebooted. I am not even OCing it but it still won't load. Does anyone know why and what happened to the system. Please help as I was very excited to receive this setup right until now that I can't even start Windows. Thanks for everyone's help!

Regards

I am confused. Did you reinstall windows after swapping, or are you still running the same install as with the old motherboard?

If it is the same windows install, then you will have trouble. I would just do a fresh install.

Oh, I just got a 2.8c and IS7 last week and some ddr3200
Runs at 3500 with ram 5:4
Cpu 1.65

You might have gotten away with uninstalling the motherboard chipset before the swap, but it is just best to start fresh with a whole new setup.

well go into device manager and uninstall the chipset

Should be the first thing under IDE ADA/ATAPI controllers

Then shut down and swap out your board. Heck, uninstall the videa card also.

Like I said, you should just do a fresh install, but I have gotten away with this in the past.

Good luck, and be sure to let us know what speeds you hit should you choose to OC that thing.

yea, and don't leave vcore at 1.7 !! If you're not overclocking leave it at default. Even overclocking I wouldn't go to 1.7, 1.65 is max I would go and under 1.6 is a lot better.
