I purchased an OEM NEC burrner from newegg. This was for a new install so I do not have any wires or screws for this drive. Can someone let me know what I need to get and maybe point me in the direction as to where to get it ?

TIA

New install meaning new mobo too?

EDIT: To be clear, the dvd uses the same cable as a regular harddrive

The mobo should come with an IDE cable (as well as a bag of screws, just find the ones with the proper threads. Otherwise hardware store sell metal screws which will fit), just plug the drive into that. If you already have a second drive filling up the cable, just buy another cable. Local shops as well as Best Buy etc carry them.

AGFAIK, a dvd can be used on a newer 80 wire/40 pin cable, or the older 40 wire/ 40 pin IDE cable.

You'll also need to hook up the power for it- it's the same 4 pin connector used for case fans etc. Your PSU (power supply) likely has a about 4 of these. If all are used, then daisy chain.

Hope that helps.

You should use a standard 80-wire/40-pin Ultra ATA cable rated for 100 MB/sec. All optical drives use the same screws - the ISO thread ones that are in between #4 and #6 US sizes. http://www.compgeeks.com sells a cable set with a baggie of hardware ($2.00) that should cover you - it's under Cables. The kit is not on special so you may be able to use FATWALLET to get a disct. Since minimum shipping is $6., you might be smart to pick up several other small items to spread the shipping cost. Or you could try froogle to see if you can get it somewhere else with more flexible shipping terms.
