I have heard that Norton is good, but what is the name of the program. I had a WD 4.3gig that Windows does not like and I want to see if I can fix it? What is the best at determining errors and fixing them? Please LMK. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Probably best to use the manufactuers disk utlities software....WD. Thats probably the best if you suspect drive is bad.....for regular maintance, scandisk and defrag, Nortons is good.

Spinrite is overrated in its ability to find subtle defects, despite the fact that it tests with more different data patterns than anything else does. I've seen manufacturer's diagnostics find more errors and in less time, which isn't surprising because they know their drives better than anyone else and know what is and isn't normal for them.
