Please help w/ Athlon XP 1600 overclocking

I keep getting randon crashes anytime I bump up the fsb even 5mhz. IRQL_NOT_LESS_THAN_EQUAL is the one that I can remember. How can I fix this? Do I disable DMA in the bios? Please help!

davidos... unfortunately, it could be a number of factors. Here are two I can think of: It could be your wireless card doesn't like it. Or (and probably more likely) it could be your two ram sticks. Try taking out one stick and overclocking.

Try turning up some voltages, say up the CPU and RAM by +0.05V. I could only increase the FSB on my 1700+ by a very small amount until I raised the CPU voltage to 1.85V, even then I could only raise the FSB to 144.

I had the most success by unlocking the multiplier, at CPU & RAM at +0.1V I was able to get up to 10x158.

I have an SK6 heatsink. I will try taking out one ram stick to see if that works. What is the normal voltage for DDR ram on these boards?...2.5?

You have a good heatsink, I would up the voltage a little bit each time and try upping the fsb. You can go to 1.85volts on the cpu but I wouldn't suggest going any higher. And yes, 2.5volts is default ram voltage. You can probably go up to 2.7v-2.8v safely. My ram wouldn't do 166fsb until I got to 2.8v.
