here goes, I have a Dell sorry stuck with it.

Its a p4 1.7 400mhz with 512 pc 133 ram and a asylum 256mb fx5200. I like to play online and some maps I get real slow fps.

So I got a bug up my @ss and decided to buy a

p4 2.6 400mhz, 1024mb pc 133, Zalman heatsink/fan, ati radeon 9800 pro 256mb total cost 700.00

So the box comes then Im thinking maybe a new computer is inline. I have to stick with Dell "long story business deal"

So for about 800.00 I can get a

p4 3.0 800mhz with HT, 512mb ddr2 400mhz, and a ati 300x 128mb card.

Do you think its woth the upgrade or am i better off with the new computer and the crappy ati 300 Thanks for your help

Welcome to AT!

I think your first upgrade choice is better. A radeon 9800 will help out a lot more than a 3.0 P4 and DDR RAM for gaming.

However, I don't think either are really good choices for gaming. You've got bottlenecks in both systems. Are you completely in a bind to buy Dell?

Thanks for the Welcome. Yea im stuck with getting a dell. With the business deal we made we had to buy 2 so if i buy it has to be a dell. Wont happen again I tell you. I have noticed you can get a lot of computer for 1000.00 compared to the dell.

So you think I would still be ok to game on the highest settings with my upgrades. thanks any more advice would be appreciated.

What systems are you looking at getting? I think your problem is that you're going with the 775 chipset. DO NOT get that. It's a total waste of money right now.

Check out this system from the small business store.

Configured with a 2.8GHz HT 800FSB, 512MB DDR RAM and a 9800 pro 128MB (No big loss from 256MB, trust me), it comes out to $819 with the instant rebate. It would blow both systems you have listed out of the water for gaming.
